Anyway, I know you are interested in the JB banjos, so I figured i would tell you I have the original prototype. I am the son of Johannes Bonefaas, so the banjo was a present for my 25th. birthday. It is the fretted hairy goatskin on the JB website. Keep up the good work with the website and keep hammerin'! -Kristian Herner, Stockholm, Sweden |

Sort of like listening to public radio [I have not had a TV for nearly 20 years] without paying. So I join wherever I happen to be when a membership driveis on. I have just taken up my first instrument - the banjo - a Deering Goodtime open back - because I wanted to play bluegrass as it may have been played pre-resonator. | Comments: | Dear John -- What a treasure to find -- as a former old-timey fiddler and guitar picker Sugar In The Gourd took me back forty years to when I played with "The Smokey Run Gourd Spooners" in suburban New York. As you probably know, old-time string band music up north in those days comprised The New Lost City Ramblers and a few folks like me who followed their lead to discover the originals they learned from. Although I moved on to bluegrass and finally into original acoustic and electrified music, there'll always be a place in my heart for exactly the kind of music you've been kind enough to stream for us, and I'm nothing but grateful for what you've done. Thanks so much! bcnu -- Bruce Morgen |

| Comments: | My friend John Woodman (see July messages)pointed me here with "You'll like this". Had to wait for broadband but how right he was: it's just like trawling through my own record collection without the effort. I particularly like the mix of old time and pre-war blues and the juxtaposition of various versions of the same song or tune. Goodstuff. Thanks. |

My Grandfather Abe Carter was a cousin ofthe old origonal Carter family. I can remember back 55 years ago when the Carter Family and my family all sit together on the front porch one evening and played their music together all night long. That is the only time i can remember seeing the Carter Family all together like that. I sure wish i had pictures or a recording of that wonderful memory as a child. I love your station. Keep up The Good work. All the best to you...Jim Littleton |

I'd like to hear from anyone who remembers our struggles to get people to pay attention to old timey music around San Jose State circa 1960-1962, Monterey (DLI), Ace's Pizza, 1962-1967 (a very long continuing bluegrass and Old Time music tradition)! |

| Comments: | Hi John Your brother Pete put me onto your site and I'm very glad he did. I am into lot's of different types of music, blugrass, jazz, rock 'n' roll, blues, infact anything played (well) on the guitar. I have learned a few simple arrangements of fiddle tunes for the guitar, so to listen to your stream will only add to my knowledge and enjoyment of the music. Thanks for doing such a good job on explaining the facts regarding mp3 players, I will down-load the player you have recomended when I get home. Ken |

With the corporate takeover of music at retail and the general lack of distribtion of great historical recordings by the controled coporate elite, it's nice that your providing another perspective on our national musical treasurey. Keep it up and Keep on keepin on!! Mystic |

| Comments: | Thanks for the great site. Great idea having links to where to buy the recordings. And don't worry about channel 2 being down. I was going nuts changing channels anyway. Too hard to choose between wonderful music on channel 1 and excellent music on channel 2. I've learned a lot of tunes from this site, and remembered a bunch I'd forgotten about. This stuff should be piped into schools. Mike Jarboe |

| Comments: | I sure enjoy having your Live 365 station going whilst I do other tasks on the computer. However, I always have my fiddle within reach, to jam with some of these gem sounds. I played Old Time music when I played with Nebraska O.T. Fiddlers. Since moving to Florida, I have been strictly, with South Florida Bluegrass Assn., and travel to several Florida festivals throughout the winter. I would say that acoustic musicians are my closest friends or "family". I know that my new contactwith you, will help me get in touch with Old Time groups. Like riding a bike, you never forget those old songs. It just takes a little stroking. |

| Comments: | Hi John, Great site! Wonderful tunes! Where else but net radio could you hear songs that echo our past like these do? It's a shame that our legislators and the mainstream music industry are making it so difficult to produce quality programs such as yours. On a separate note, I know you were active in the Fiddlers Aid benefit for David Bass a year or so ago. Since then I haven't heard much about how he is faring. Have you heard anything? So, anyway, keep those great tunes coming. There ARE people out there listening and loving it! Regards, Jeff Kirk |
